The Arts Centre of Christchurch has recently made its first foray into publishing. In conjunction with its successful Artist-in-Residence programme, You Are Here by Wairarapa photographer and writer Lucinda Birch was published in March of this year.
In April 2004, Lucinda completed a two-month residency at The Arts Centre; You are Here is her creative response – in words and hand-painted photographs – to this place and its visitors.
Quirky and fun, You Are Here captures the essence of The Arts Centre and celebrates – with revealing insights – the daily hum of life in this iconic arts community.
Published in March this year, and appealing to locals who have ‘grown-up’ with The Arts Centre as well as to national and international visitors to the region, copies are now available from Arts Centre Information, 10 am – 5 pm 7 days, located in the Clock Tower on Worcester Boulevard (ph 366 0989).
