James Stringer

Board member

James Stringer brings extensive experience in the redevelopment and refurbishment of heritage and character buildings to the Arts Centre Trust Board.

He believes that the success of the Arts Centre is central to Christchurch’s growth as the most liveable city in the world.

“The collaboration of art with commerce, and hospitality with entertainment, will produce a place so valuable and authentic it will ensure its enduring success.”

As a partner of Box 112, James identifies and acquires commercial properties for redevelopment – a role that includes developing and articulating a vision for each project. Central to his approach is the concept of manaakitanga – the care and enhancing of Christchurch city’s mana.

James is a Trustee on the Christchurch Heritage Trust Board, with this role involving the identification of heritage projects that require major repairs or protection from demolition.

He is one of the founders of a Christchurch arts initiative for emerging art leaders and is a passionate central city resident. He has supported the Arts Centre as a Cornerstone Donor for a number of years.
