James Stringer brings extensive experience in the redevelopment and refurbishment of heritage and character buildings to The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora’s trust board.
He believes that the success of The Arts Centre is central to Ōtautahi Christchurch’s growth as the most liveable city in the world.
“The collaboration of art with commerce, and hospitality with entertainment, will produce a place so valuable and authentic it will ensure its enduring success.”
Part of the Box 112 team based in Christchurch, James identifies and acquires commercial properties for redevelopment and repurposing – a role that involves articulating a vision for each project and then populating them with the right mix of people. Central to his approach is the concept of manaakitanga – the care and enhancing of our city’s mana.
James is a trustee on the Christchurch Heritage Trust Board, with this role involving the identification of heritage projects that require major repairs or protection from demolition.
He has supported The Arts Centre as a Cornerstone donor for a number of years and became a trustee in 2018.
