Bird & Wildlife Art Endangered & Extinct NZ Species

14th to 27th May 2018 - Pumanawa Exhibition Space - 1st Floor Boys High Building

Featuring stunning original wildlife art for bird lovers, hunters, fishermen and conservationists.

Artist Rob Martin is once again based in Christchurch: I have been involved in art all of my life, since winning a UK national TV art competition when just 6 years old.

Following 3 years London art school training I have worked in most fields of art during my career, photography, advertising, graphic design, typography, illustration.

Illustration led me to specialise, c1976, in book cover illustration for major publishers in London and Europe, completing more than 100 covers including many best selling authors.

This current Art Centre exhibition is the 28th anniversary of my first solo exhibition in NZ at the CSA Gallery (now COCA), 20th May 1990. That exhibition featured a collection of my book cover art and a couple of those works will be displayed at this Pumanawa Gallery exhibition, copies of the 1990 promotional poster will also be available.

My fine art career has led to ongoing studies of NZ birds, with a particular focus now on endangered and extinct species and a goal to contribute to conservation through art sales.

Available as original art and limited edition fine art prints.
