Summer Sweetener Market
Sunday 3 Dec, 10am–4pm - Market Square
Kick off summer by satisfying all of your senses at the Arts Centre Summer Sweetener Market, featuring curated shopping, art, live music, food and drinks.
In response to the huge turnout to our last market, we’re increasing the number of stalls and food trucks – and this time they’ll be located in the true home of Arts Centre markets – Market Square.
The markets will showcase Christchurch’s finest independent designers, making it the perfect spot to find unique, local, handmade goods for your Christmas stash.
Deliciously curated food trucks will be complemented by our very own neighbouring artisan foodies Zen Sushi & Dumplings, Curator’s Deli, Rollickin Gelato and Fudge Cottage. Live music and children’s entertainment will ensure it’s a great day out for the whole family.
Applications are now being taken from stallholders. Click the following link that applies to you:

Come along and you’ll not only find unique treasures, you’ll also be supporting the Arts Centre – an independent charity held in trust for the people of Canterbury and its visitors. Restoration of more than half of the site is now complete but the remainder cannot be finished unless another $35m is fundraised.
Before the earthquakes, the Arts Centre ran popular weekend markets and, while there are no firm plans to bring these back, hosting the summer market is a good way of testing interest and will help inform future planning.
The Arts Centre Market is being run by established local market expert Abbie Pickrill who is the talent behind the vibrant and unique Lost and Found Market brand.
After living in London, Abbie missed the market scene so co-founded something similar but on a smaller scale in her hometown of Christchurch. She has since successfully run markets in the central city since before the earthquakes, with the two most recent being based within the Arts Centre’s stunning heritage environment.
Stall holders are hand-picked for their high quality and unique products, with the aim of giving market-goers a unique shopping experience to remember. The constantly changing line-up includes debut stalls and a vintage emporium.
