The Arts Centre te Matatiki Toi Ora has been gradually re-opening following major earthquake restoration work and has the following positions available.

Venues and events manager

A passionate and professional venues and events manager who will be responsible for the successful end-to-end management of all venues and associated events within the Arts Centre te Matatiki Toi Ora complex.

Does this sound like you?

  • Responsible and have a self-motivated work ethic.
  • Flexible, as it will require some weekend and out of business hours work.
  • Excellent administration and financial skills to keep meticulous records and paperwork.
  • Event experience and a strong sales aptitude.
  • Responsible for a seamless start to finish customer experience.
  • Manage the venues budget and ensure timely and accurate billing of venue hire.
  • Manage Arts Centre casual staff in an effective and supportive manner, as required including creating rosters and providing training.
  • Lead cross functional project groups on key venue and event projects.
  • Using your event sales experience, maximise the revenue by balancing not-for-profit hires with commercial hires.
  • Attention to detail and comfortable with hands-on operational delivery.

Programmes and partnerships manager (fixed term)

The Arts Centre te Matatiki Toi Ora is developing and implementing a wide range of programmes and partnerships to bring its vision to life.

We require an enthusiastic self-starter to work in a dynamic environment for a 12-month fixed term position to cover our programmes and partnerships manager’s maternity leave.

You will need these personal attributes:

  • An ability to work independently.
  • An ability to relate well to different types of people.
  • An ability to build and maintain networks of contacts or stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and personal integrity.
  • An ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Values that align with the organisation’s goals.
  • Language or cultural knowledge.

You will have these skills and experience:

  • A minimum five years’ experience working a similar role and relevant tertiary qualification or significant experience.
  • A strong ability to lead the programmes and partnerships team of seven.
  • A clear ability to demonstrate development of strong and supportive networks.
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong command of grammar, spelling and style.
  • Proven ability to develop effective relationships internally and externally and work as part of a team and independently to realise the vision.
  • Project management skills – ability to design and deliver projects, budget management and analytical review.
  • Ability to demonstrate has a strong understanding of consumer, stakeholder and media management.

Curator – programmes and events

The Arts Centre te Matatiki Toi Ora requires a passionate, professional curator for programmes and events. This new role will provide proactive support to the programmes and partnerships manager to deliver outstanding events and programmes.

You will need the following:

  • A self-motivated work ethic.
  • To be responsible.
  • Ability to relate well to different types of people and develop effective relationships.
  • Ability to build and maintain networks of contacts and stakeholders.
  • Excellent administration skills to keep meticulous records and paperwork.
  • A strong customer service focus.
  • Personal integrity.
  • Have experience in event programming, communications or similar role.
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure.
  • Language or cultural knowledge.

Event set-up team member (fixed-term)

We require a fit and strong person to help assist setting up and packing down stalls for our weekly market.

You would be required each Sunday for approximately four hours to set up and then pack down our market stalls. There will be heavy lifting so please only apply if you are physically up to the task.

The main tasks and duties will include:

  • Set up and pack down of the mākete canopies (working with in a team of three or four) as per supplied set out plans.
  • Set up of safety and power to food trucks and stalls.
  • Moving/relocating of fences.
  • Laying out other mākete equipment as required or instructed, for example tables, chairs, toys etc.
  • Managing the safe flow of stallholders during pack-in and pack-out.
  • Operating random checks of electrical tagging, ie. checking stallholders’ equipment has the appropriate and correct safety tags.
  • Distributing health and safety sheets.
  • Collecting unpaid stall fees.
