A brand new room has been added to the Rutherford’s Den experience, themed around renewable energy and its importance to New Zealand, proudly sponsored by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
The main exhibit in the room is a life-sized colourful interactive screen, where users move certain parts of their body to trigger actions on the screen, involving geothermal, hydro, wind, wave and solar power generation. Watch the video to see how it works.
There are also interesting exhibits discussing where our energy comes from in New Zealand, and what is driving increased energy requirements.
Did you know – 80% of our electricity in 2014 was powered by renewable resources?
Ernest Rutherford explored new ways of producing energy and finding sources of power as part of some of his experimentation in the 1930s.
We are grateful to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) for their sponsorship towards the activities in this room.
