Public spaces

Both the Great Hall and North Quad are open to the public daily between 10am and 5pm following their respective restorations.

The North Quad

See how far the North Quad landscaping has come by clicking on the image below to load images taken by our live web cam – it will take a few seconds to load. Once loaded, move your mouse left and right over the image to go backwards and forwards in time – a virtual timelapse of landscaping progress. Use your Esc key to exit.

Alternatively, click on the timelapse below to see the full extent of the work that went into landscaping the North Quad over 12 months from September 2015.

The new layout resembles the Quad’s 1940s landscaping, with a mix of grassed areas and paths. The reflective pond – an art installation that was not part of the original plan – has not been reinstated but the beloved wooden benches have been restored and put back to provide plenty of comfortable seating.
