Visitors can once again get their sweet treats at the Arts Centre, with the return of The Fudge Cottage on the ground floor of the Boys’ High building.
As well as buying fudge, giftware and other traditional confectionery items, visitors can watch confectioners as they put the finishing decorative touches to handcrafted artisan fudge.
The Fudge Cottage was located at the Arts Centre for more than 20 years prior to the February 2011 earthquakes and owner Kevin Burns is looking forward to “returning home.”
“The Arts Centre has done an amazing job of restoring and future-proofing the site to ensure it will remain an important and central part of the city for current and future generations.
“It’s fantastic to know we will be part of this and the wider regeneration of the city.”
The Fudge Cottage became synonymous with the Arts Centre when located there previously and it created special memories for many who visited, he says.
“We are very much looking forward to re-kindling these memories, as well as creating new ones for people bringing their families to the Arts Centre for the first time.”
