Acting CE appointed

30 January 2018 - Arts Centre

Jane Parfitt has been appointed as the acting chief executive for the Arts Centre, taking the helm until a permanent appointment is made in the next few weeks.

Current CE André Lovatt resigned from the position in November last year to take up a new role at Auckland Airport. When he finishes at the Arts Centre in mid-February, Jane will take over the role for an expected three to four months.

Jane brings a wealth of experience to the Arts Centre, having spent 12 years at Christchurch City Council in a variety of roles including acting chief executive and chief operating officer. She has held numerous governance roles during her career and will balance her new job at the Arts Centre with her role as adviser to the chief executive of Kaikoura District Council.

During her time at the Arts Centre, Jane says she will continue to lead the site into its next phase of redevelopment by building on the outstanding work and momentum that André and his team have established.

Arts Centre Trust Board Chair Felicity Price says Jane is well known in Canterbury as a steady and strong leader, guiding many publicly accountable organisations successfully through complex times.

“We’re delighted she can take this role on at short notice and for a limited time, to ensure the Arts Centre remains focused and well led in the interim until a new, permanent CE is appointed,” she says.
