This piece is derived from multiple doublings, resulting in an expanding web reminiscent of the delicate architecture of a flower. The central drop shape references water, as the plaited lines might reference veins. All is expanding, all is connected.
Robyn Webster is a multimedia artist living and working in Ōtautahi Christchurch. She has an abiding interest in the natural materials of this place; their cultural richness, and its many implications, sometimes expressed with those very materials (as in this piece) or in ink, paint, or bronze.
Flowering is made from harakeke of the tapamangu variety, grown at the artist’s home in Addington.
