Sculpture Festival 2024

Time
10.00AM – 5.00PM
Venue: Great Hall and North Quad

The 5th annual Sculpture Festival at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre features work by some of the country’s best artists, on show and on sale.
Over 250 sculptural art pieces, ranging from delicate jewellery to large installations, will be on display.
The festival doubles as a fundraiser for The Arts Centre, which is an independent charitable trust.
After five years, 2024 will be curator Koji Miyazaki’s last year in the role. His term has seen the festival establish itself as a showcase of approachable New Zealand sculpture in diverse media and styles, including ceramics, stone, glass, metalwork, jewellery, installation, and ngā toi Māori.
This year, Koji Miyazaki has curated 37 artists, both newcomers and well-known names including: glass by Graeme Hitchcock, Karin Barr; ceramics by Katie Gold, John Parker, Fiona Tunnicliffe; sculpture and mixed media by Tim Main, Gabriel Bosman, and Michael Phillip Bennett; and jewellery by Eriko Kumagai, and Lynn Kelly.
Smaller objects will be in the Great Hall, open daily 10am to 5pm, while larger, weather-proof artworks will be in the North Quad, where the public can view them any time.
You will find plenty of affordable artworks on sale, as well as genuine investment pieces. Sales support the artists and Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.

The festival is supported by The Farina Thompson Charitable Trust proudly managed by Perpetual Guardian.
