Cubbin Theatre Company presents Up and Away, a playful and gentle theatre experience designed specifically for pre-walking babies and their caregivers. Live music and interactive play transform small, familiar moments into experiences that are curious, captivating, and engaging for very young audiences.

The performance is presented in a carefully crafted open-sided tent, with small audience numbers and attendance limited to pre-walking babies. This creates a cosy, safe, and unhurried environment where babies can explore and engage alongside their caregivers in whatever way feels right. There is no expectation for babies to sit still or respond in a particular way, every response is welcome.

Up and Away is informed by current neuroscientific research and developed in consultation with a speech and language therapist.

For information on what to expect at the show, visit the FAQs on the Cubbin Theatre website. Any questions about the performance can be directed to hello@cubbin.co.nz.

Cubbin Theatre Company is the Company in Residence at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre for 2026.
