Good progress on cinemas

18 August - West Lecture

Development of the Arts Centre’s new boutique cinemas are progressing well as restoration continues on the West Lecture building adjacent to the Great Hall.

When complete, West Lecture will be home to two boutique cinemas, along with four apartments for artists-, writers- and scientists-in residence.

By the end of the year, restoration will start on the neighbouring School of Art Building which will house hospitality, community meeting rooms and a large, upstairs co-working space.

Both West Lecture and the School of Art are due to re-open in mid-2018, effectively framing the Arts Centre site on the South West side.

“It’ll be an exciting time for the Arts Centre because another corner of the site will have completed buildings, ” says Arts Centre Chief Executive André Lovatt.

“Once open, the buildings will host a wide range of day and evening events, bringing even more life on the site and helping to put us on the map as a key central city destination.”
