142 years of Unfolding History

16 October 2019 - Classics

Experience 142 years of The Arts Centre’s history unfold over 60 minutes! The talk will encompass a wonderful set of 19th and early 20th century photographs and anecdotes that illustrate the development of the central city historical site now known as The Arts Centre.

A rich archive of photographic materials and interesting anecdotes provide a backdrop for a talk from one of The Arts Centre’s longest-serving staff members, Liz Hodgson, who shares her impressive knowledge of the construction and development of the 23 buildings that now comprise The Arts Centre campus. Formerly Canterbury College, the School of Art, the School of Engineering, Christchurch Boys’ High and Christchurch Girls’ High, the buildings have a fascinating and rich history.
