About Voices Co.

Inspired by the likes of Pentatonix, the Pitch Perfect movies and the burgeoning worldwide a cappella scene, Voices Co. is essentially a vocal-only pop band – every note, beat and sound is created using only the voice.

This year, the Christchurch-based contemporary a cappella quintet took out first place on national TV competition The Naked Choir and were crowned ‘NZ’s Best A Cappella Group’.

The award-winning group is the premier quintet of NZ’s first contemporary a cappella academy, Voices Co. Academy.

Launched about two years ago in Christchurch, the Academy specialises in training students in the style of contemporary a cappella through a variety of small vocal groups, private tuition and beatboxing classes. The Academy aims to inspire, encourage and empower students of all ages to find their voice and to experience first-hand the joy of singing.

“Voices Co. Academy is proud to be leading the way in the development of contemporary a cappella in New Zealand, and to be able to support the Arts Centre as it continues to champion the arts in Christchurch,” says Manager Malia Hay.
