Learn about the life and amazing work of Kiwi Nobel Prize winner Ernest, Lord Rutherford, through multi-sensory displays and hands-on experiences, then create an artwork representing the father of nuclear physics.

Rutherford’s Den

Hands-on science for everyone – Rutherford’s Den is a world of science, history, discovery and wonder brought to life through exciting multi-sensory displays and hands-on experiences in the rooms where Rutherford studied.

Explore the life and achievements of New Zealand’s renown Nobel Prize-winning scientist, Ernest, Lord Rutherford.

Den entry is $5 per child and adults are usually $10 each, but these holidays adults can visit Rutherford’s Den for FREE with each paying child.

Please note: Caregiver supervision is required.

Driving & Parking

The Arts Centre has a limited number of 10 and 30 minute visitor carparks located at Market Square near the corner of Worcester Boulevard and Montreal Street.

Plenty of on-street metered parking is available near the Arts Centre, along with a number of off-street carparks.
