Join the Friends of the Arts Centre for a Fundraising Film Night on Monday 26 May in aid of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.
There will be a glass of bubbles* and some canapés in the upstairs Bijou Bar at Lumière Cinemas at 5.30pm, followed by a private showing at 6.15pm of the movie “The Last Journey”, proclaimed as "a beautiful piece of storytelling ... [which] serves as the perfect advert for French tourism".
In this real-life Swedish road trip, Filip’s father Lars is retiring after 40 years as a beloved French teacher in Koping. But instead of a “third age” with travel, wine, and experiences together with his wife, he becomes passive and tired. Filip and his best friend Fredrik take Lars to his beloved France and let him revisit the places he loves. By making the same road trip that the family used to make when Filip was a child and staging some of his father’s fondest memories (often with hilarious consequences), they hope to rekindle Lars’ spark.
Tickets are $30, and all proceeds go to the Friends of the Arts Centre, who support projects at The Arts Centre.
Lumière Cinemas are located at 26 Rolleston Avenue. The screening will be in the Bernhardt Theatre which is located on the second floor, the Bijou bar is also located on the second floor. There is full accessibility access to the theatre via a lift, which is entered from the North Quadrangle. Please notify us in advance via the email below if you require a wheelchair space in the theatre.
