Eight Aotearoa New Zealand artists have been selected for round one and two of The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora’s Arts Four Creative Residency programme.

Maria returned to her home town of Christchurch in 2020 and is Head of Brand & Customer Engagement at The New Zealand Merino Company. She joined the board in March 2021.
With proven success in senior integrated marcoms, creative and event management roles in New Zealand and overseas, Maria has worked with some of the world’s leading brands, designing and implementing transformational marketing and communications solutions.

His parents met in the Great Hall during the University of Canterbury Orientation in 1964.  So his very being is entwined with The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora.

New Creative Residents at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre

With much anticipation and excitement, the Olivia Spencer Bower residency is returning to Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre. A longstanding residency prior to the 2010/11 earthquakes, this partnership will once again see The Arts Centre annually host an emerging artist specialising in the fields of painting and sculpture. Amanda Newall won this esteemed award and will be based onsite from May until December this year, working on a new exhibition, Blue Ted. The Oliver Spencer Bower residencies began in 1987 and are renowned as an invaluable and prestigious award for Aotearoa visual artists. The Olivia Spencer Bower award is supported annually by Perpetual Guardian.
