Preview season of “Cricket, Sex and the Universe” written and performed by Roanna Dalziel, supported by the Arts Centre.
Can all of life’s lessons be found in cricket? Even about sex? Even about being confronted by the universe? Smokey, a not-so-brilliant cricketer now in her fifties, looks back on life through the lens of the game. With humour and candour, she explores relationships, ageing, cats, theatre, and her Favourite Person. The result is funny, moving, and distinctly from Christchurch. Audiences will never look at cricket – or life – the same way again.
Trained in drama schools in New Zealand and the UK, Roanna has worked across stage and screen, including a year on Shortland Street as a bald nurse, and comedy/theatre performances throughout the UK and at the Edinburgh Fringe.
