Sell your works at The Arts Centre Shop

Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre established a shop that opened in September 2024.

With the goal of selling beautiful unique objects and artworks designed and made by local artists and artisans. We are looking for a wide range of objects and artworks from a cross section of Ōtautahi’s and Aotearoa’s creative community, and are open to discussing ideas that come our way.

We are looking for established artists who are inspired by The Arts Centre; the architecture, stonework and history of the site, etc. Artists pieces will need to be exclusive to The Arts Centre Shop and must be replicable to the extent that they can be produced in runs when additional stock is required. Variations in handmade pieces will undoubtedly occur but the overall concept should be able to be easily reproduced.

Ranges will vary in price points, from postcards or small reproduction prints to more exclusive pieces.

Artists can either sell their work wholesale or work on a commission-based system with a percentage going to The Arts Centre.

Application tips & information

  • Applications must include clear information about your artworks or proposed artworks. They must include what they are made of, how they are made and clear, consistent imagery that complements your work.
  • The Arts Centre Shop is curated and applications are chosen based on creating a diverse selection of works therefore we cannot accept all vendors. We apologise in advance if we are unable to proceed with your application.
  • If selected as a artist your works will be photographed and be used on the Arts Centre’s social media channels and may be used for other promotional purposes.
  • Applications are rolling, if your application is successful you will be contacted within two weeks of submitting for further discussion.
  • Please add shop@artscentre.org.nz to your address book so our emails aren’t caught by your junk mail filter.
  • Goods will be supplied by the artist in either of two ways:
    • At an agreed wholesale price, with payment to the artist within one month of the supply of the goods. The Arts Centre will sell at a price it determines (this allows for price discounts etc)

      or

    • On a consignment basis whereby the artist retains ownership of the goods and The Arts Centre sells the goods “on behalf” of the artist. The Arts Centre has the right to sell the goods on behalf of the artist. The Arts Centre will sell at a price it determines (this allows for price discounts etc). Within one month of advising the artist of the sale The Arts Centre will pay 60% of the sale price, less GST, to the artist.
