Sunday 18 January 2026

Time

6.30PM – 7.30PM

Venue: Rutherford's Den

Join us as we journey down the path that connects horseshoes to pocket computers in this one-of-a-kind talk by internationally renowned physicist Gordon Baym.

Specifically crafted for a non-technical audience, Professor Baym is not only entertaining but provides a relevant and real-world overview of quantum mechanics thus far... and where it might be going in the not-too-distant future.

No prior physics knowledge required, questions are encouraged, curiosity and a sense of humour are a must!

This talk was made possible with funding from Te Whai Ao - Dodd-Walls Centre.
As Rutherford's Den is a heritage space it is a non accessible space.
