Play like it's 1825!

Sunday 12 and 19 October

Time: Various

  • Sun 12 October 2025

    11.00AM – 2.00PM

  • Sun 19 October 2025

    11.00AM – 2.00PM

Venue: South Quad

Join in some outdoor heritage games and activities from the 1800s – when most toys were made of wooden or metal - including skittles, quoits, beanbag toss, skipping, hoops, yo-yos, wooden spinning tops, noughts and crosses, string games, connect 4, egg-and-spoon races and more!

Bring the whole family along to have fun and enjoy some leisure time in this heritage space.

NOTE: If it is RAINING on Sunday 12 October, we will move indoors into the Cloisters Studio Theatre which is just off the North Quad (behind the Sir Antony Gormley STAY sculpture).

Thank you to the Bishopdale Menzshed  for creating and building some of these wooden heritage games, and to the Friends of the Arts Centre for helping host this event.

This event is part of the Christchurch Heritage Festival (11 - 27 October 2025).
