MERGING TRADITIONS is a joint exhibition of work by textile artist and quiltmaker Sue Spigel (USA) and painter Galina Kim (USSR).
Having met at an exhibition many years ago, each was drawn to the underlying spirituality in the other’s work. Now, both Kiwis, they find themselves in yet another culture with a different part of history.
In the 125th anniversary year of Christchurch Cathedral, they decided to explore some of the themes common to all of humankind by looking at the history of the Cathedral, Canterbury, this country, our earth and its ecological future, and the universe.
This work was first exhibited in Christchurch Cathedral in March 2006.

Printed sets of cards - a collection of all exhibition images - will be available for sale. All money collected will be donated to Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Project.
