Sat 7 - Sun 22 Pipiri June

Time

9.00AM – 5.00PM

Late nights:

Thu 19, Sat 21 & Sun 22, open until 9.30pm

This permanent exhibition tells a version of the Ngāi Tahu creation story, as written down in 1849 by Matiaha Tiramōrehu. Six Ngāi Tahu artists have reinterpreted Tiramōrehu’s story, including New Zealand Arts Laureate Dr Areta Wilkinson, who acted as Creative Lead on the project.

Together, they have created an immersive, sensory experience with artworks on a monumental scale.

This event is a part of our Matariki 2025 programme happening between 7 - 22 June. View the full line-up of events.
