Terence Yang says making music is "fantastic fun." He's also good at it, having successfully auditioned for a CSO internship, 2026. Terence studies flute with Anthony Ferner (and piano with Lixin Zhang).

Terence is a flute student of Anthony Ferner and a year 11 music scholarship student at St Andrew’s College. Terence is also a very accomplished pianist studying with Lixin Zhang. He is passionate about music and looks to pursue music performance in the future.

Terence enjoys tackling challenges and aims to bring the best sound to every note that he plays. He recently auditioned successfully for an Internship with the Christchurch Symphony and has been invited to perform in two concerts with the CSO for 2026.

He loves the thrill of playing in large orchestral ensembles and the camaraderie of making music with people.

In his own words it’s “fantastic fun”.

This event is part of the 2026 Rising Stars programme happening on specific Tuesdays. You can view the full programme here.
