Objective Bias

Tuesday 02 to Sunday 07 December 2025

Time

10.00AM – 5.00PM

Opening Event: Tuesday 02 December | 5.30-7.30pm

Venue: Pūmanawa Gallery

Bumping against common language that we find reductive and uncontextualized, the artists suggest that a notion of objective bias, in contrast to unconscious bias, better prepares us to create accurate ideas of the world. The group wonders if a deeper comprehension of our subjectivity allows for a collaborative, co-construction of knowledge and shared understanding. With this acknowledgement, a space for participation is widened, and there is a context for understanding across difference.

Each piece of art challenges the idea of an objective constant and explores the personal discomfort acceptance of that 'truth' can generate. It explores the unexamined assumptions and beliefs and patterns we align with, and forms the worlds we live in.

All artworks are for sale.
