Matariki 2026
Hiwa-i-te-rangi - Kihikihi: Live VJ + Audio Set
Join multidisciplinary artist Jamie Berry for a 45-minute live VJ and audio performance created for Matariki at The Arts Centre, Ōtautahi.
This immersive set brings together moving image, live visual mixing, and soundscape, weaving the presence of Hiwa-i-te-rangi — the Matariki star connected to wishes, hopes, and aspirations — with Kihikihi, Berry’s moving image and sound work exploring cicada song, DNA-derived sound, memory, and ancestral time.
Through layered projection, audio, and visual storytelling, the performance opens a sensory space where the everyday meets the celestial, and where sound and light become portals for remembering, reflecting, and dreaming forward.
An artist kōrero will follow the performance, offering insight into the kaupapa, creative process, and connections between Matariki, tīpuna, whenua, and future imaginings within Berry’s practice.
This activation is part of Jamie's exhibition: Kihikihi - He kūaha Whetū
