    We are thrilled to welcome Jun Bouterey-Ishido and Matilde Loureiro back to the Great Hall after their concert success in 2022. The programme for this recital will feature works by Chopin, Enescu, Bartók, Dvořák, Janáček, and more.

    About the musicians

    Christchurch-born pianist Jun Bouterey-Ishido studied with Veronica Van der Knaap, Diedre Irons and then Péter Nagy, completing his Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the University of Canterbury before pursuing postgraduate studies at the Liszt Academy (Budapest) and the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, graduating with a Master and Konzertexamen with Distinction. In 2025, Jun completed his Doctor of Musical Arts thesis about folk music influences on the work of György Kurtág and György Ligeti at the University of Canterbury. As well as receiving invaluable mentoring from Rita Wagner, Jun has had masterclasses with renowned pianists including Alfred Brendel, Edith Fischer, Ferenc Rados, and András Schiff.

    Portuguese violinist Matilde Loureiro studied with Luís Cunha at the Conservatory of Lisbon and then with Ilya Grubert at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, graduating with a Bachelor of Music with Distinction. She continued her postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg and completed a Master in Music Education at the University of Minho (Braga). She has had masterclasses with Gerhard Schulz, Rita Wagner, and Ferenc Rados.
